My name is Mason, and I am a software engineer, designer, and business developer. My background is in the humanities, including the performing arts and visual arts. WORK
design + strategy
Supero is a startup that is commercializing an innovative aerospace design. The goal of this project was to create a branding and business design strategy that would prepare the company for potential investment. I developed the pitch deck, the website, and various research projects to identify business opportunities from academic research projects on Supero's technology. The website is located at superouas.com
This weeklong workshop for Salone del Mobile in Milan was in partnership with Mini Cooper and Continuum. The project's title, Mini Urban Perspectives, brought together professionals and students to envision the future of urban mobility. The main focus of our group's exploration was to design solutions for Mini in the face of changing car ownership models. My group's personal solution was called MiniCare, a service focusing on a private mobility service.
This project with GQ Italia was a 5 month internship between Domus Academy students and faculty. The work was developed as a result of a previous collaboration with the Master in Business Design program. The goal of the internship was to propose a new business strategy for GQ in order to enter the nutrition sector. Our solution focused on health aspects GQ could develop as a lifestyle guide while offering unique experience-based events for a new advertising product.
This three month collaboration with Selectiva, a subsidiary of
Paglieri SpA, focused on repositioning and rebranding for two product lines. The first,
Pink Sugar, is a line of cosmetics that sells well in the US market. The goal was to
update
the appearance and reposition the product emphasizing the Made in Italy aspect. The
second, Aquolina, is a line of bath products popular inside Italy. The goal for Aquolina
was to update its packaging to enhance design quality while also opening
new market opportunities.
Below is a selection of the final output. The entire process produced an over 100
slide presentation, and a 160 page brand book that synthesized market research, brand
identity, and a new brand strategy. This project was chiefly exploratory,
and was used as inspiration for an internal design team.
Altreforme is an Italian furniture company that uses automotive
technology to shape aluminum into unique products. Our task was to develop a strategy to
promote the company during EXPO 2015 in Milan, whose central theme was "Feeding the
Planet,
Energy for Life!". The project focused on incorporating both guerilla-style marketing
and online messaging, while also creating unique pieces using their trademark
manufacturing process that incorporated the EXPO theme of food.
This is the business pitch presentation, and our strategy was one of humor to bring
our almost outrageous proposal into a meaningful context of the perspective of 'the
tourist'. Our team focused on how the EXPO tourists would interact with
the city, and how sharing moments in a foreign place could bring joy to even the
mundane.
